The Ventures team develops new customer propositions for the Partnership. They autonomously create digitally-led customer growth opportunities by building and branding them over a year to three years, with the goal for them to be absorbed into the main business. I’ve been working on several projects including Digital Stylist (fashion), Waitrose Rapid (food), Home Assurance (insurance with smart technology) and While You’re Away (using smart locks, Waitrose will deliver your food when you’re out). I work on branding, creating TOV, decks, homepage copy, emails, social, banners, etc.

Focusing on creating engaging, informative and effective copy across both womenswear and menswear for all CRM communications. This involves working alongside the marketing and editorial teams to devise successful copy that not only entertains, but drives conversion to sales. As well as looking after .com and some international emails, I also write the lifecycle emails, specialist newsletters, CRM SMS and push notifications, paid social, and I work with Digital Marketing on hit + run campaigns. I also manage the junior editor.

Based in Melbourne for a year, as well as freelancing for UK publications, I also wrote for some Australian titles: The Age newspaper, Get Lost! Magazine, Mr & Mrs Smith, Virgin Blue Voyeur, Broadsheet Melbourne, Melbourne Bride, Australian Bride, For The Love Of Travel and Australia & New Zealand magazine.
November 2006 – March 2009
fresh magazine was a monthly food title that also dipped into travel. My responsibilities included:
● Deciding on and shaping the features every month
● Writing topical, seasonal and regular food and travel features
● Sourcing and interviewing celebrities such as Jamie Oliver, Marco Pierre White, Trudie Styler, Jimmy Choo and Raymond Blanc
● Reviewing restaurants, products, books and gadgets
● Organising and styling product shoots
● Commissioning freelancers
● Interviewing potential employees and mentoring interns
● Working with clients on advertorials
February 2005 – November 2006
I was responsible for writing regular features like Cheese of the Month, food news, product reviews, events and competitions. I also organised props for shoots and maintained relationships with prs, agents, writers and photographers.
